Paperwork
Two sets of paperwork: what the UAE needs to let your goods leave, and what your destination needs to let them in duty-free.
Ask TAQA Distribution to close your electricity and water account a day or two before you leave. The final reading and bill take around three working days; once paid you get an account closing letter, and the deposit can be refunded to your bank account (IBAN). If your tenancy hasn't ended yet, the Tawtheeq contract has to be cancelled first.
Agree the end date with your landlord, cancel the Tawtheeq registration, and return keys against a signed receipt. Deposit disputes go to the Abu Dhabi Rental Dispute Settlement Committee.
Your passport, visa and Emirates ID must be valid when your shipment clears UAE export — cancel your visa afterwards, not before packing day.
The UK needs an approved ToR1 before the goods ship; EU countries have their own transfer-of-residence forms (Germany's is form 0350); Canada needs every item — including goods following by sea — listed on B4/B4A at your first entry.
The USA needs CBP Form 3299 plus an ISF filed at least 24 hours before loading. Australia needs a B534 statement and goods free of soil, with treatment certificates for timber items.
India clears household goods as unaccompanied baggage, with concessions that depend on how long you have lived abroad and no free allowance. Saudi Arabia offers duty exemption on used effects for first-time residents with an Iqama; VAT still applies.
Flammables, aerosols and gas bottles, perfume and oud oils, batteries and chemicals, perishable food, plants and soil, weapons and cash. Alcohol and tobacco are often restricted.

Tracking
Your coordinator doesn't disappear once the truck has gone. You get the bill of lading and tracking details for your shipment, and a message from your coordinator at each of these points.
Your numbered inventory is shared with you to check before the truck leaves your home.
The container or liftvan is loaded and sealed at your home where access allows, and you receive the shipment reference.
Your shipment goes to the departure port — usually Khalifa Port or Jebel Ali, as confirmed in your quote — and you're told when it sails. Air cargo leaves from Zayed International Airport.
Notice when your goods reach the destination port or airport, and what the partner agent needs from you next.
Confirmation that clearance is complete, or exactly what customs are asking for.
The delivery date is agreed with you, and the partner agent delivers and unpacks as booked.
