Routes
Many of our Al Ain moves start or end in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
Typical
~130 km
Roughly 120–145 km via the E66, depending on where you start and finish — about 1.5 hours by car. A loaded truck takes longer.
Typical
~160 km
City centre to city centre via the E22 (the highway itself is about 125 km). Allow around 2 hours by truck, plus Abu Dhabi's truck windows at the city end.
Cooler months; September is the busiest time to book.
Permits and paperwork
Al Ain is part of Abu Dhabi emirate, so Tawtheeq and TAQA Distribution apply.
Abu Dhabi tenancy contracts are registered in Tawtheeq by the landlord or an authorised property manager — through TAMM or DARI with UAE Pass, or at a typing centre. Documents usually include the signed contract, title deed or site plan, and Emirates ID or passport for both parties. Your utility connection depends on it.
Al Ain's electricity and water used to be AADC and now come under TAQA Distribution, but Al Ain accounts are still separate from Abu Dhabi city accounts. Moving between the two means closing one account and opening another. Once your new tenancy is in Tawtheeq, the account is usually set up from that record; if it isn't registered, you apply for a move-in through TAQA Distribution. To move out, give a day or two's notice, allow the final meter reading and pay the final bill to get your Account Closing Letter — your next landlord may ask for it.
Some compounds and apartment buildings ask you to book the move with management, and a few want a list of the crew and the truck plate. Check their rules early and send us the form.
Cancel Ejari and close DEWA in Dubai, then register Tawtheeq and connect TAQA Distribution in Al Ain.
Access and timing
Heat, distance and long carries are the biggest factors in Al Ain.

Early starts protect your furniture and the crew from the desert heat.
Compounds and large plots can mean long carries from the gate — we bring extra hands.
September brings the new school and university year, and many teaching and UAE University staff move then — book early.
Moves to Dubai or Abu Dhabi are timed around Al Ain's own truck hours at the start and the truck rules at the other end.
How it works
A clear plan from survey to the last box unpacked.
In person or by video — we check volume, access, lifts and anything that needs crating.
A written quote, crew size and truck plan for your moving window.
Your landlord registers Tawtheeq and you check compound rules; we supply our company documents, truck and crew details.
Room-by-room packing, with floors, lifts and corridors protected before anything moves.
Loading in sequence, transport, reassembly and placement to your plan, with packing waste removed.
Local problems
Al Ain is not just a smaller Abu Dhabi. It is inland, low-rise and spread out, and it runs on its own truck hours and utility accounts.
In summer Al Ain is often several degrees hotter than Abu Dhabi or Dubai, and outlying areas such as Sweihan can come close to 50°C. We start early, keep to the UAE midday outdoor-work break (12:30–3pm, mid-June to mid-September) and load wood, leather and electronics last so they spend the least time in the heat. Carry medicines, candles and vinyl records in your car.
Abu Dhabi Police set separate heavy-vehicle peak hours for Al Ain — a morning and a mid-afternoon window — and change them in Ramadan and around public holidays. We check the current windows for your date and plan loading and departure around them.
Central Al Ain is kept low-rise, so most apartment buildings are only a few floors. Some older blocks have a small lift or none at all. Tell us the floor and lift size at the survey so we bring enough hands for stair carries and dismantle anything that won't fit.
Walled villas with gardens, outbuildings and a majlis often mean the truck parks at the gate, a long way from the front door. We plan the carry route, protect the paths and bring extra crew.
An Abu Dhabi city account doesn't move with you to Al Ain. Close one and open the other under TAQA Distribution — see the paperwork list above.
Buraimi is a short drive from Al Ain, but crossing the border makes it an international move with customs, not a local one. Ask for an international quote early.
Moving day timeline
Many Al Ain moves are university, hospital or government staff starting or ending a contract, or families moving closer to work in Abu Dhabi or Dubai. This is how a typical inter-city day is timed.
For villas and larger homes we usually pack a day ahead, so moving day is only loading, driving and unloading.
The crew starts early to beat the heat and finish loading outside Al Ain's truck peak hours.
The E22 to Abu Dhabi or the E66 to Dubai, with goods strapped and padded for the drive. Fuel and tolls are already in your quoted price.
Arrival is timed around the truck rules at the other end — Abu Dhabi city's ban windows or Dubai's RTA restrictions — and your building's lift booking.
Beds and wardrobes reassembled, boxes placed by room and the box count checked with you before the crew leaves. Larger villas may run over two days. For typical durations by home size, see how long a move in Abu Dhabi takes.
