How Do You Get a Move Permit for a Dubai Apartment?

Most Dubai towers won't let a moving truck in without a move-in or move-out permit, and each master developer runs its own process. Apply in the resident's name, then share the approval with your movers.

Three things that stop apartment moves at the lobby:

Unpaid service charges. Emaar, Nakheel and Dubai Properties won't issue a permit while charges on the unit are outstanding — and they are usually the owner's charges, not yours. Ask your landlord to confirm they are cleared before you fix a date.
A permit without a lift booking. In many towers the move permit and the service-lift slot are separate approvals. Get the lift time in writing too.
Missing mover documents. Many forms ask for the moving company's name, trade licence, truck details or supervisor's number — get them from your mover before you apply.

How Do You Get Your Security Deposit Back When You Leave a Dubai Apartment?

Most deductions come from small things on the last day. Use this list in the week before your move-out date.

Details that cost tenants money

Who keeps the keys

DEWA final bill

Close your DEWA account for your move-out date and settle the final bill — your DEWA deposit is refunded only after that. At the new apartment, DEWA can only connect once the previous tenant's account has been closed.

Ejari

Cancel or let your landlord cancel the old Ejari when the tenancy ends, so you can register the new one without a clash.

Wear and tear vs damage

Normal wear and tear shouldn't be charged; holes, stains and broken fittings usually are. Your move-in photos and the tenancy contract are your evidence if there's a dispute, which goes to the Rental Disputes Centre.
